OUR FOUNDER

Josh Bidwell is a devoted family man, cancer survivor, former University of Oregon football player, and 12-season NFL football punter. Despite facing numerous challenges on his path to success, Josh drew inspiration from these pivotal moments in his life. This led him to establish the Josh Bidwell Foundation in 2005, with a mission to make a positive impact on his hometown community, which had supported him in the past.

During his battle with testicular cancer, Josh experienced firsthand the challenges of seeking treatment outside of Douglas County. This motivated him to ensure that local residents could access necessary medical care within their community. As part of this commitment, a share of the foundation's proceeds is given to the Community Cancer Center.

In the early stages, the foundation initially focused on benefiting the Community Cancer Center, Douglas County youth sports programs, various youth services, and Young Life. Over time, it expanded its efforts, introducing the Josh Bidwell Scholarship Program in 2016 and the Josh Bidwell Family Outreach Program in 2017. Through these initiatives, the foundation is able to offer essential services to the community throughout the year.

Josh attributes much of his athletic success to the support he received from his small town, emphasizing the importance of community backing in nurturing resilient and thriving youth. The JBF actively supports various youth and sports programs by providing funding, equipment, and assistance annually.

The Josh Bidwell Foundation holds a signature two-day event each year, consisting of a dinner auction and golf tournament. As a nonprofit organization, the JBF ensures that all funds raised remain within Douglas County, making a direct impact on the local community. With a dedicated team of volunteer board members who share Josh's commitment to community service, the foundation looks forward to welcoming you at their upcoming events.
